SUNDAY SCHOOL
The study of God’s Word is essential to a vibrant Christian life. Here at Canaan, we offer an avenue of Bible examination that involves small groups with like interests and goals. Each class is headed up by skilled teachers who are trained to expound the Scriptures in a way that is easily understood by the students. We have classes geared to every age group so that no one is left without a place to feel included.

MUSIC
Music is an intrinsic part of worship here at Canaan. We feel it is an important means of preparing our hearts to respond to the preached Word of God. Traditional, conservative, Christ-honoring music and singing make up our music ministry. We offer praises to God through our orchestra, choir, ensemble, small groups and solo singing. We’re making a joyful noise to the Lord through our music ministry!
SOUL WINNING/ VISITATION
Canaan Baptist Church is part of a thriving community. Newton County is made up of a diverse group of people, but they all need Christ and the fellowship of a good church family! Each month we reach out to our neighbors and surrounding area through a church-wide visitation program we have termed “Operation Saturation”. Our goal is families reaching families through door-knocking, soul winning, and personal invitations to the house of God.
YOUTH MINISTRY
The youth of our church is our future! We love our young people, and want to do all we can to equip them to grow into strong, dedicated Christian adults who love God and have a passion for His work. Our youth workers seek to accomplish this goal through weekly Bible preaching geared to young folks, timely Bible lessons in Sunday school, youth outings, godly examples, and fellowship with other Christian youth. Being part of the Georgia Youth Fellowship provides our young people with the opportunity to spend fun time with youth groups of like faith from all over Georgia.
KING’S KIDS
We believe that the best time to start training children is at the most tender of ages. For children ages three through sixth grade we offer weekly Bible training on Wednesday evenings at 7:15 pm. Bible memorization, awards, game time, and music participation make up each Wednesday evening of fun and fellowship. Every month the children get the chance to exhibit their accomplishments to the church family as a whole.
CHILDREN’S CHURCH
Each week we have church services for young folks Grades 1-12. Children’s Church is especially for four and five year olds. They enjoy learning Bible verses, creating special crafts, and meeting new friends. Junior Church, for first through sixth graders meets together each Sunday for Bible preaching, games, and prizes. In Teen Church, junior high and high schoolers learn the importance of the Bible in their daily life. The folks who preach and teach in these classes love Canaan’s children!
BUS MINISTRY
Our bus workers are passionate about reaching others with the Gospel and bringing them to church on the big, yellow Canaan busses! Our fleet of church busses rolls off the Canaan lot each Sunday to transport folks of all ages to church to hear the preaching of God’s Word. Many people have been saved through this vital ministry. SUNSHINE FELLOWSHIP
One of the most active groups at Canaan is our senior citizen group known as the Sunshine Fellowship. Everybody’s Birthday Party, Chili Cook Off, Homemade Ice Cream Contest, Hawaiian Luau…these are just a few of their recent activities. Day trips and overnight retreats are also part of their active schedule.
CANAAN WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP
The ladies of Canaan enjoy meeting together each month to plan activities and to minister to the needs of the church family and others. This group provides a wonderful place of service and encouragement among Christian ladies. Not only do they have fun themes and gatherings, but they also furnish a source of spiritual strengthening.
WORLD MISSIONS
We have a wonderful story to tell! Our Savior came to Earth to pay our sin debt, so that we could go to heaven to live with him! We want to spread this glorious Gospel to every corner of the earth through our missionaries. Because of the faithful giving of our members, our Faith Promise Missions budget is over $170,000 each year! We support more than 170 different missionaries all over the world. With the Lord’s help it is our desire to carry out His mandate from Mark 16:15…”Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
DRAMA MINISTRY
Presenting the Gospel through plays and musicals has proven to be an effective tool to reach others. Each December our young folks delight us with a Christmas musical that portrays the true meaning of the season, and provides them with an opportunity to show us their dramatic talents. Our Easter Passion Play always draws a crowd as we display the story of the death, burial, and glorious resurrection of our Savior! Because we use lavish props, lighting, and costumes, there is a place for everyone to get involved in this production.
SHEPHERDING MINISTRY
Canaan Baptist Church is a family of believers. The members of this family rejoice with those who rejoice, and sorrow with those who sorrow. Our Pastors, our Deacons, and our church staff make it their practice to reach out to the membership to assist in any way needed. Each family is assigned their own deacon to call upon when in need. Also, our Pastors are available at any time. The church office is staffed and ready to help. Technology such as a Church-Wide Phone tree and email helps us notify members of emergency situations.
NURSING HOME MINISTRY
As part of our desire to reach out to others across the entire spectrum of age groups, we have weekly services in the nursing homes in our area. Preaching, special music, and one-on-one visitation make up the schedule of each service. Encouraging the residents is our goal, and our own encouragement is the outcome! These folks are a true example to everyone.
PASTOR’S PRAYER TEAM
Each week Dr. Caudill publishes the Top Ten Prayer Requests for our church family. The team members commit to praying earnestly for these special requests. We believe in the power of prayer!
